Morrisville men come-from-behind in second, sweep weekend with win over Penn

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team posted a come-from-behind victory Sunday afternoon over host Penn College as they collected the 76-71 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win with a late rally in Williamsport.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's basketball collected the weekend North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) sweep Sunday afternoon as they put together a late rally to come-from-behind in a 76-71 victory over host Penn College in Williamsport.
  • Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) led the Mustangs high scorers with 18 points, adding four rebounds, as he played all but three minutes of the contest.
  • Senior forward Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) powered his way to 16 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double, while fellow big man Jaylin Montalvo (Hempstead, N.Y.) added a season high 15 points off the bench.
  • Penn College led 39-38 at the break before Morrisville came out of the gates on an offensive mission and quickly reversed the first half momentum as they opened with a 16-6 run that included three straight from downtown to claim a nine-point lead five minutes in.
  • The Wildcats clawed their way back into the game over the ensuing seven minutes time, regaining a four-point advantage with 7:33 to go, and maintained the lead until the 2:16 mark when a three by sophomore guard Rahmell Smith (Jamesville, N.Y.) gave the Mustangs the two-point edge.
  • Morrisville maintained the slight advantage and a long-ball by Montalvo with seven ticks to go sealed the win, widening the gap to five for the victory. Montalvo collected three tre's on the day in the win.
  • Morrisville out matched the Wildcats on the offensive glass, 14-7, collecting 17 second chance points.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville hosts Wells College on Wednesday in a NEAC double-header, and will look to make it three straight wins before heading into the cross town matchup with SUNY Polytechnic on the 18th.
