WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Morrisville and Cazenovia traded points throughout the first half of the first set until the visiting Wildcats rallied behind a strong serve performance from Mary MacHugh to pull ahead 16-13.
- The Mustangs worked their way back picking up a string of points behind their own strong serve streaks from Hannah Taylor (Goshen, N.Y.) and Anna Salamino (Liverpool, N.Y.). Taylor and Salamino each picked up aces during their point runs to help the Mustangs to a 25-21 first set win.
- Morrisville took control of the second set as their strong net presence held the Wildcats to a .000 hitting percentage in the 25-15 win.
- Cazenovia pushed back in the third set, but another ace from Salamino, an assisted block from Marina Megson, (Lebanon, Conn.) and Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.), and a tide turning kill form Florio gave the Mustangs the lift needed in the middle of the set to distance themselves from the Wildcats' push.
- Morrisville would ultimately close out the third set 25-18 to take the three set sweep.
- Offensively, a new face emerged for the Mustangs as Sam Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the way with 12 kills. Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) and Florio followed close behind with 11 kills each. Jillian Hoffman (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Megson rounded out the offense with six and five kills respectively.
- Taylor collected 39 assists to go along with two aces.
