Spartans best Morrisville State field hockey in Sunday action

MORRISVILLE, NY – Visiting Castleton University field hockey scored four goals in each half of action Sunday afternoon, claiming an 8-0 non-league victory over the host Morrisville State Mustangs on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Castleton scored their first tally just 2:08 into the opening quarter off a tip, before adding three straight goals within a span of a minute and half to break open the contest to a 4-0 lead at the break.
  • The Spartan offensive attack kept Mustang goalkeeper Morgan Dueber (Owego, N.Y.) busy as Dueber collected a total 13 saves in the first half of play in an effort to keep the game within striking distance.
  • Castleton added to their lead in the third and fourth quarters with tallies, claiming the 8-0 non-conference victory.
  • Dueber finished with a total 16 stops, before being relieved by Taylor Manwarren (Eaton, N.Y.) for the final 10 minutes of action.
  • Manwarren made two stops in her time in cage.
  • Junior defender Mary Klecha (Greene, N.Y.) was credited with a defensive save in the Mustangs efforts.
