MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville Women's Volleyball Team opened their 2019 campaign with two victories on the first day of their opening weekend home tournament, defeating Simmons in a thrilling 3-2 win in game one before taking Cedar Crest in three straight sets.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Mustangs dropped the first two sets of their opening match with Simmons as Morrisville struggled to find a rhythm with their offense.
- The host squad flipped the script in the third set against Simmons posting a .297 hitting percentage to go along with 14 kills to take the set 25-19.
- Morrisville continued to battle back and forth with the Sharks in the fourth and fifth sets, but it was the Mustangs' offensive efficiency that propelled them to the come from behind 3-2 win.
- In game two of the day, Morrisville distributed the ball across the board, recording 43 team kills as eight different Mustangs added to the team total.
- Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) led the way on the day with 40 kills between the two matches, while Amelia Baratier (Liverpool, N.Y.) added 22 and Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.) added 16.
- Freshman setter, Hannah Taylor (Goshen, N.Y.) dished out 79 assists in her collegiate debut.

- The Mustangs will return to the court on Saturday to wrap up the final day of their home tournament with a 10 AM match against Geneva and a 2 PM match against familiar opening weekend foe, Penn State-Behrend.
