Morrisville Downs Berks 3-0, Head to NEAC Volleyball Championship

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs took one more step towards capturing their third straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Volleyball Championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Nittany Lions from Penn State Berks 3-0.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs dominated in all facets of the match on Saturday, especially defensively as they held Penn State Berks to a sub .200 hitting percentage in all three sets.
  • The front line of Amelia Baratier (Liverpool, N.Y.), Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.), Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.), Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.), and Jillian Hoffman (Virginia Beach, Va.) combined for 9 total blocks. 
  • The back line, anchored by Libero, Sam Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) proved just as strong.  Wolf led the way with 17 digs, while Baratier added 10.
  • Offensively, the Mustangs were led by Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) with 19 kills, followed by Baratier with 13.
  • Moore orchestrated the Morrisville offense with 34 assists, while the team hit just under .300 for the match.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • With the win, the Mustangs advance to the NEAC Championship at 1 PM in the STUAC Gymnasium on the campus of SUNY Morrisville.  Morrisville will battle the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions who defeated Penn State Harrisburg 3-2 in the other semi-final match.
