Morrisville State women edge Lancaster Bible on the road

LANCASTER, PA – The Morrisville State women's soccer defeated host, Lancaster Bible College by a final score of 1-0 on Friday afternoon in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Freshman forward, Hailey Moriarty (Nunda, NY) scored the game-winning goal for the Mustangs, who now sit at 5-11 overall, and 3-7 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • For the first seven minutes of play, both teams controlled fairly equal possession of the ball until the 7:26 mark. Charger's Julianna Miller was called for a handball in the box, giving the Mustangs a penalty kick. Moriarty drilled a shot into the lower left-hand corner past Lancaster Bible's goalkeeper to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. The goal was Moriarty's second of the season.
  • Neither team was able to capitalize offensively for the remainder of the first half, as Morrisville State took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
  • The Morrisville defensive unit alongside freshman goalkeeper, Meghan Miller (West Irondequoit, NY) played relentless in the second half, holding the Charger's scoreless despite eight shots in the final 45 minutes of action.
  • Lancaster Bible outshot Morrisville 14-4, including 9-2 in shots on goal. The Chargers also held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
  • Miller finished with eight saves in goal for the Mustangs, playing all 90 minutes.
