Mustangs Handle Hawks in Canton Classic Finale

CANTON, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Volleyball team rebounded from a late night loss on Friday night to hand the Hartwick College Hawks a 3-0 on Saturday afternoon to cap off a 2-1 record at the Canton Volleyball Classic.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs dominated in nearly every facet of the match on Saturday afternoon.
  • Morrisville put away 43 kills to just 27 from Hartwick.
  • While Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) was the only Mustang to record double digit kills, freshman setter Hannah Taylor (Goshen, N.Y.) spread the ball around effectively as five others notched kills in the match.  Taylor was credited with 38 assists.
  • Morrisville also picked up key points behind another strong serve game as Amelia Baratier (Liverpool, N.Y.) notched three service aces.
  • While the Mustangs' middle hitters did not record any blocks, Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.), Jillian Hoffman (Virginia Beach, Va.), Marina Megson (Lebanon, Conn.) and the rest of the front line rotation forced the Hawks into 15 attack errors.
  • Sam Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Baratier recorded double digit digs in the back row with 14 and 10 respectively.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Mustangs turn their attention back to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play next weekend.  Morrisville will hit the road for their first NEAC cross over on Saturday, October 12 with matches against Penn College and Penn State Berks in Reading, Pa.  The Penn College match is set for 12 PM immediately followed by the match against Penn State Berks at 2 PM.
