Morrisville State drops 2-1 decision to Penn College on Senior Day

MORRISVILLE, NY – The Morrisville State women's soccer team fell at home on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 2-1 to the visiting Wildcats of Penn College. Prior to kickoff, the Mustangs acknowledged their three seniors for their contributions to the women's soccer program throughout their time at Morrisville State. Raevvyn Saunders (Hector, NY), Michaela Fazio (Norwich, NY), and Madison Shoemaker (Caledonia, NY) were all honored for their dedication and commitment to Morrisville State Women's Soccer.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Penn College struck early in the first half, notching their first goal in the 4th minute of play. Morgan Brooks ripped a shot just outside the 30 yard line, just scraping the top post and out of reach of Mustang goalkeeper, Meaghan Miller (West Irondequoit, NY). Dominique Brown earned the assist on the goal as the visitors took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
  • Tiffany Brown of Penn College extended the Wildcat lead in the 53rd minute of play to take a 2-0 lead; Morgan Feeley was credited with the assist.
  • Shoemaker scored the lone goal for the Mustangs in the 77th minute, recording her second goal of the season. The senior midfielder connected on a pass from freshman, Tiffany Dicenzo (Rochester, NY) just inside the box, finding the back the back of the net to cut the Wildcat lead to just one goal.
  • The Mustangs we're unable to capitalize in the final fifteen minutes of play as Penn College earned their sixth straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory.
  • Both teams recorded four corner kicks on the afternoon, while the Wildcats held the advantage in shots (16-6) as well as shots on goal (10-4). Miller posted eight saves in all 90' of play in goal for the Mustangs.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
  • The women's soccer team caps off regular season play on the road, traveling to Lancaster Bible College on Friday afternoon for a 5:15pm contest, followed by a trip to Washington, DC to take on Gallaudet on Saturday afternoon.
