Morrisville State men avenge January loss to SUNY Poly; hand Wildcats 73-52 NEAC defeat

MARCY, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's basketball team avenged a late January loss to SUNY Polytechnic Wednesday evening, handing the Wildcats a convincing 73-52 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) defeat in Utica.

The win lifts Morrisville State to 12-7 overall, 8-3 in NEAC action. SUNY Poly drops to 8-9 overall, 7-2 in conference play.

Ibrahima Toure (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 23 points, adding nine rebounds, as Jordan Hoose (Hudson, N.Y.) netted 12 points and seven boards. Joe Hulbert (Duanesburg, N.Y.) rounded out the Morrisville State leaderboard with 10 points, dishing out three assists in the win.

Quayshaun Mitchell led SUNY Poly with 14 points, collecting eight rebounds, while Tyler Taverne contributed 11 points in the loss.

Morrisville State shot 50% from the floor on the night and edged the Wildcats 41-35 on the glass. SUNY Poly shot 32.8% from the floor, struggling from long range as they hit just 3-of-20 attempts. In the previous meeting, the Wildcats shot 47.1% from behind the arc, nailing eight three's.

The Mustangs led 39-30 at the half, before outscoring SUNY Poly 34-22 in the second period.

Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, hosting Penn College at 1 p.m. on the Mustangs home court.
