MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College field hockey team suffered an 8-0 setback on the road to host SUNY Geneseo Saturday afternoon in Geneseo.

The loss drops Morrisville State to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.

Geneseo got off to an early start, scoring twice in the opening two minutes of the contest to set the tone for the remainder of the game.

The hosts added another two goals at the six minute mark, before posting another two to take a commanding 6-0 lead into the halftime break.

Morrisville States lone save came on a defense save by back Cailin Dunphy (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) in the second half.

Geneseo held the 13-11 advantage in shots, as keeper Dayna Mercer collected the win with one save in the first half.

Morrisville State returns to the field Friday, hosting SUNY Brockport at 4 p.m. on Drake Field.
