ROAD TO MORRISVILLE:

Erin (Skaradek) Rotchford took the women’s basketball reins in the summer of 2015 and has guided the Mustangs to the top of the league standings.

Under guidance of Rotchford, the Mustangs have made seven straight appearances in the NEAC post-season, advancing to the Championship final twice in her career, and capturing the title in 2022 to earn the programs first bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Her 2022-23 squad registered a program first United East regular season title with a 14-2 league slate, earning the top slot in the tournament, where they defended their crown for their second straight trip to the NCAA tournament.

In the 2019-20 season, Morrisville put together a 19-9 overall record, 13-3 NEAC stint, earning Rotchford Coach of the Year accolades as selected by her conference peers.

Also during the 2019-20 season, the Mustangs earned national recognition, ranking among the top of teams in the conference, as well as Division III.

Morrisville finished the regular season as the league’s top scoring offense, averaging 72.3 points per game, while leading the conference in three-point percentage (32.2), free throw percentage (73.2), steals per game (15.7) and ranking second in assists per game (15.5).

The Mustangs caused havoc for opponents, forcing the most turnovers per contest at 26.4.

Nationally, the Morrisville squad ranks among the top 10 in all of the NCAA Division III (450 teams ranked) in seven team categories, including eighth in turnovers forced, ninth in steals per game, seventh in steals, first in three-point field goals made, as well as ranking second in three-point field goals made per game.

Three players earned All-Conference accolades, including Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) who finished the season ranked fifth in the NCAA in three-point field goals made, Alexis Campbell (Buffalo, N.Y.) who ranked sixth in the NCAA in free throw percentage, and Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) who is sixth in steals.

Across her five-year career at the helm of the program, Rotchford posted winning seasons with 14 or more victories, including a program best 20-win season in 2016-17.

In all, Rotchford has produced several All-Conference selections, and has guided both the program and individuals to all-time highs in the Mustang record books. Five have also reached the 1,000-point milestone mark in their collegiate careers under her guidance.

Aside from success on the court, Rotchford’s squads have also earned recognition in the classroom with several being named to the NEAC Scholar-Athlete squad during her time. She continues to have her program active in the community, participating in various initiatives such as Reading Across America, Back to School Drive and an awareness and fundraising campaign for St. Jude Hospital for childhood cancer.

Prior to Morrisville, Rotchford was on the bench of the Oswego State women's basketball team as assistant coach for seven seasons, where she helped guide the Lakers' to the SUNYAC playoffs in each of the last five seasons.

In 2013, the Oswego squad rose to a high ranking of fourth place in the NCAA Division III East Regional rankings. At one point during that same season Oswego was ranked number one in the NCAA Division III in scoring defense. That campaign ended with the Lakers holding an overall record of 18-9.

In addition to her basketball duties at Oswego State, Rotchford also served as the head women's tennis coach since 2008 and doubled as the head coach of men's tennis in 2009-10. Outside her athletic department responsibilities Rotchford was also involved the Oswego State's new student orientation program as an assistant coordinator of that program.

Prior to accepting her duties at Oswego Rotchford spent three seasons at Elmira College as the assistant women's junior varsity basketball coach. In addition to her coaching duties, she was also assistant to the sports information director. A graduate of Elmira with bachelor's degrees in childhood education and anthropology, she was member of the college's 2006-07 Empire Eight Conference Regular Season Championship team, as well as the 2006 and 2007 squad that claimed second place.

Rotchford currently serves as an assistant sports information director and continues to remain active in the coaching community at several local clinics. She also serves as a representative for the Kiwanis Club in Utica. Rotchford and her husband Patrick reside in East Syracuse with their dog Murphy.
