ROAD TO MORRISVILLE:

Brittany Stroop joined the athletics department in the fall of 2015 as the head coach of the SUNY Morrisville softball program.

In her first season taking the reins of the program, Stroop guided the Mustangs to a 9-27 overall record, while placing two on the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) All-Conference teams, and coaching the program's first North Division Rookie of the Year selection in Amanda Labe.

Stroop in 2016 brought new structure to the softball program, developing strong leaders on the field and within the community, as well as focusing on academic and athletic success. Her efforts had two earn NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors come year end.

Throughout her time in the dugout with the Mustangs, several have earned academic accolades, as well as recognition for their efforts on the field of play, including two earning NFCA Academic Team honors as top student-athletes across Division III.

In the spring 2020, despite the cancellation of the season due to the pandemic, Stroop’s unit earned over a 3.0 team GPA, the first time in program history.

Stroop came to SUNY Morrisville from Eastern University where she served as head coach of the softball program for the past six seasons and Director of Intramural Sports since 2013. Stroop guided the Eagles to two Freedom Conference Tournament appearances, finishing third overall in both seasons.

The native of Pottstown, Pennsylvania began her coaching career in 2005 as the assistant softball coach at Mount Vernon Nazarene University where she specialized in hitting, catching and pitching instruction.

After two seasons at Mount Vernon Nazarene, Stroop earned the head coaching role of the softball program at Crown College in Minnesota.

Stroop returned to Pennsylvania in 2009 to take over the program at Eastern and within three seasons with the Eagles, guided the program to a 21-21-1 record in 2012, qualifying for the Freedom Conference Tournament for the first time. She continued success on the field over the next three seasons, and after posting an 11-3 conference record in 2015, was named the Freedom Conference Coach of the Year.

Stroop has had several players earn All-Conference honors, including top conference accolades as the Freedom Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year this past season.

Stroop is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, earning a Master of Arts degree in education in 2007. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Mount Vernon Nazarene.

A four-year letter winner for the Cougars in softball, Stroop earned NAIA All-Region and American Mideast Conference South Division First team honors, at catcher and the infield corner positions.
Aside from her coaching responsibilities, Stroop also serves as Assistant Sports Information Director, with responsibilities for volleyball and ice hockey.
