ROAD TO MORRISVILLE:

Jason Longo joined the SUNY Morrisville men’s lacrosse program as head coach in the fall 2009 and over the course of his career at the helm of the program, has maintained the Mustangs as one of the top league competitors.

The 2015 season kicked off a five year stretch that proved historical for the program, as the Mustangs captured the NEAC Tournament title to earn the program its first ever bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The Mustangs finished the season with an 11-6 overall record, posting their fourth undefeated NEAC season in program history at 8-0, and their fourth regular season league title.

Following the historical 2015 season for the Mustangs, Longo and his staff continued the success from the previous season and again dominated the NEAC en route to five straight regular season titles, as well as five consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The success of the Mustangs in 2016 led to an overall 13-3 record, and a fifth undefeated NEAC record of 8-0, as well as recognition by his peers as the 2016 NEAC Coach of the Year, for a fourth time in his career. Morrisville State also swept major conference awards with Rookie (Nick Geswaldo), Offensive (Louie Geswaldo) and Defensive (Chris Fiore) Player of the Year accolades as they landed a program best nine on the All-Conference teams.

Dominating the league, Morrisville again swept all major awards in 2019, as they claimed their fifth straight bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Mustangs, under guidance of Longo, collected their first NCAA Tournament win in 2018, downing Eastern University in the opening round of the championship tournament, an overtime thriller that sent them to the second round against defending National Champion Salisbury University.

Under guidance of Longo, several players have earned all-conference honors, as well as player of the year, rookie of the year and defensive player of the year honors. Several have also earned NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors and have been acknowledged at the conference level with the Sportsmanship/Inspirational Award for dedication to community service, academics and sportsmanship.

In 2014, Longo also coached Morrisville State's first ever NCAA Statistical Champion behind Chris Fiore's performance in net. Fiore is the 2014 NCAA Division III statistical champion for goals-against average.

The six-time NEAC Coach of the Year is a native of Cazenovia. Longo played two years of lacrosse for Onondaga Community College at attack before completing his collegiate career at LeMoyne College. While at Onondaga, he garnered NJCAA All-American honors in each season of play, while earning Player of the Year honors.

At LeMoyne, Longo was instrumental in the Dolphins 14-1 season in 2005, recording 21 goals and 10 assists in 15 games, earning all-conference honors. The following year, Longo completed his career with a 36 goal, 17 assist performance (second on the team in scoring), including netting five game winners, as the Dolphins claimed the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and NCAA Division II Championship titles. Longo was named the NE-10 Championship Tournament most valuable player.

The 2008 graduate of LeMoyne College with a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing, Longo continues to be active in the lacrosse community serving as a coach, instructor and volunteer for several lacrosse camps and clinics throughout the State of New York, including the Powell Brothers Lacrosse Clinic.

Longo currently resides in Morrisville with his wife Erin, and their daughters.
