Morrisville men open with SUNYAC loss to Fredonia

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville men's soccer scored early Saturday afternoon, but visiting Fredonia State posted back-to-back quick strikes to down the Mustangs 2-1 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's soccer opened the 2026 league slate Saturday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville, falling in a 2-1 decision to visiting Fredonia State.
  • Morrisville's Musab Kamaldeen (Bronx, N.Y.) collected the game's first score, burying the one-touch score after Fredonia was unable to clear the ball from their defensive zone 16:38 into the contest.
  • Pedro Oliveira (Baraga, Portugal) was credited with the assist, deflecting the ball to Kamaldeen at the top of the box for the score.
  • Morrisville's lead was short-lived as Fredonia countered at the 21:41 mark to even the contest at one, netting the one timer on the goal line off the short cross from the right.
  • Lee Hartke got a foot on the cross sent in by Jackson Kuby.
  • Just over a minute later, Fredonia took the 2-1 lead on a corner kick, as Brendan Adams got a foot on the loose ball within the six-yard box for the go ahead score.
  • Ryan Ameis and Dylan McAfee were credited with the assists.
  • Morrisville had a great look at net late in the second half, but Thomas McDonald made a diving one-handed stop to keep the hosts from evening the contest.
  • McDonald finished with two saves in the win for the Blue Devils.
  • Morrisville's Jonathan Tolpa (Holland Patent, N.Y.) had four saves across 90 minutes in net.
