Knights post 3-1 match win over Mustangs

GENESEO, N.Y. – Host SUNY Geneseo collected a 3-1 match win Tuesday evening over the visiting SUNY Morrisville Mustangs, posting set wins of 25-21, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-17 to claim the non-league victory in Geneseo.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville volleyball fell in their second match of the season Tuesday evening on the road at SUNY Geneseo, as the Knights earned the 3-1 match win on their home court in Carl Schrader Gymnasium.
  • Geneseo claimed the slim 25-21 victory in the first set of Tuesday's non-league bout, taking the 2-0 match lead after a 25-22 edge in the second set.
  • Morrisville was able to pull the match within one set with a 25-20 edge in the third, but the Knights sealed the win, claiming the fourth, 25-17.
  • Isabella Eskierka (Amery, Wisc.) led Morrisville's hitting efforts with 14 kills, while Alexa Warner (Draper, Utah) added nine.
  • Eskierka also served up five aces on the night, adding a team best 15 dig effort to her totals.
  • Madison Woodruff (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) had five blocks at the net, alongside three apiece from Samantha Siedlecki (Thorton, Colo.) and Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.).
  • Bellmore added 12 assists to go along with 17 from setter Keely Shearer (Haslet, Texas).
  • Kylie Hutchinson (Liberty Hill, Texas) contributed 10 digs to the Mustang efforts.
  • Morrisville struggled to find their offensive groove in the opening two sets but were able to rebound with a .364 hitting effort in the third en route to the set win.
  • Geneseo kept the Mustangs at a .162 overall hitting percentage, while posting a .248 of their own in the win.
  • Morrisville did dominate in play at the net, out gaining Geneseo nine blocks to three across the match.

  • Morrisville will return to the court Friday, competing in the Nazareth Tournament in Rochester.
