Morrisville volleyball defeats Hood at Buttermaker Tournament action

ALLENTOWN, PA – Visiting SUNY Morrisville volleyball took to the court in their first road game of the season Friday night at Muhlenberg College's Buttermaker Tournament, defeating opponent Hood College by a final match score of 3-1 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville posted a 3-1 match win Friday night in their first road game of the season, opening Muhlenberg College's Buttermaker Tournament action against Hood College in Allentown, Pa.
  • Morrisville claimed a 25-16 set one win over the Blazers, utilizing a .429 hitting effort in the opening set to jump in front 1-0 in the match.
  • In the second, the Mustangs opened with a 6-0 lead before Hood rallied with nine straight points to claim a three-point advantage over the Mustangs.
  • Morrisville battled back and regained the lead, 20-19 late in the frame, but the Blazers took advantage of Mustang miscues and posted the 25-22 set win to even the match at one.
  • Morrisville regained control of the match with a 25-16 win in the third set, putting together an eight-point scoring run to open up a 10-point lead that held for the set victory.
  • The Mustangs put the match away in the fourth utilizing the power hitting of the outside attackers to build an unrecoverable deficit for the Blazers as they took the set 25-14.
  • Isabella Eskierka (Amery, Wisc.) led all attackers with 25 kills on the night, hitting .500 across the match.
  • Samantha Siedlecki (Thorton, Colo.) added 11 kills behind her .400 hitting effort, while teammate Keely Shearer (Haslet, Texas) added seven, also setting up 23 assists and four aces.
  • Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) contributed 17 assists, also registering nine digs on the defensive site of the ball.
  • Siedlecki was a wall at the net, recording 5.5 blocks, with Kylie Hutchinson (Liberty Hill, Texas) leading the way with 25 defensive digs in the Mustang efforts.
  • Eskierka also had double digit digs, recording 10.
 
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will return to the court for day 2 action at 10 a.m. against host Muhlenberg College, before meeting John Jay College at noon to wrap up weekend play.
