MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming softball senior
Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) and men's track and field junior
Donnell Davis (Binghamton, N.Y.) the Mustangs of the Week for action ending April 5.
Lafontaine played a key role in a four-game week for the Mustangs, putting together a 5-for-13 performance from the plate, a .384 batting average in league play. Lafontaine collected a week total five RBI's, had four double hits and recorded a run.
In the field, the senior had eight put outs.
Lafontaine's best performance on the week came in the 9-1 win over Potsdam where she went 3-for-4 from the plate, registered three doubles, while batting in three.
Davis made his collegiate debut for the Mustangs at the SUNY Cortland Red Dragon Open Invitational Saturday in the men's 5000-meter race, finishing 10
th overall among the field of 25 runners.
Davis, who crossed the finish line in 16:30.60, was the second Division III runner to cross the line in the field that saw top runners from local Division I programs.
