Mustangs Close Season With Loss to New Paltz

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville women's lacrosse team hosted the Hawks from New Paltz in their final game of the regular season, which ultimately ended in a 25-6 loss for the Mustangs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • After New Paltz opened the scoring, Morrisville answered with a man-up goal from Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.), but the Hawks responded with a dominant 8-1 run to take control early.
  • Turnovers and penalties proved costly for the Mustangs, as New Paltz capitalized on multiple free-position and man-up opportunities to build a commanding 9-2 lead at the end of the first.
  • The Hawks continued to control the game early in the second, scoring two straight goals to extend their lead to 11-2.
  • Morrisville found a spark midway through the period with a free-position goal from Ingersoll, but New Paltz answered quickly and added another late tally to take a 13-3 advantage into halftime.
  • New Paltz stayed in control coming out of halftime, outscoring Morrisville 6-2 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 19-5.

  • New Paltz dominated the fourth quarter, capitalizing on multiple penalties and free-position opportunities to score six goals and extend their lead to 25-6.
  • Morrisville's lone goal of the period came from Ingersoll, but the Hawks' consistent offense and man-up success sealed the decisive victory.
  • The Mustangs were led by Ingersoll offensively who finished with four goals followed by Loadwick and Savanna Scheifla (Alden, N.Y.) who tallied one score each.
  • Ingersoll also controlled 11 draws in the contest while recording three ground balls and caused turnovers.
  • In goal, Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) saved four shots in the loss, while Amber Martin split the action.
  • New Paltz was led by Lexi Atwater who finished with seven goals and two assists.
  • Nine other Hawks found the back of the net in the contest.
  • Goalkeeper, Gabriella Tommaso earned the win for the Hawks, while Piper Mascaros saw action in the second half.
