Turnover Struggles Lead to Morrisville Loss Against Oswego

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville men's lacrosse team hosted the Lakers from Oswego Saturday afternoon in their first SUNYAC matchup of the season, where they would fall 18-9.
THE BASICS:

  • Records: Morrisville 6-3, 0-1 SUNYAC, Oswego 7-1, 1-0 SUNYAC
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Oswego jumped out to an early lead, but Morrisville responded with a man-up goal from Noah Taylor (East Syracuse, N.Y.) and a late equalizer from Chris Stancarone (Levittown, N.Y.) to tie the game at 2-2 after one quarter.
  • The Mustangs kept it competitive in the second behind goals from Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), before Oswego pulled away, ending the half on a 3-0 run in the final minutes.
  • Morrisville opened the third quarter with a goal from Dohn and later added a man-up score from Jason Tedeschi (Manlius, N.Y.), but Oswego answered with a late surge, scoring three times in the final minute to extend its lead to 13-6 heading into the fourth.
  • The Mustangs got fourth quarter tallies from Tedeschi and Mohammed, but Oswego continued to pull away, outscoring the Mustangs 5-3 in the period to secure the 18-9 win.
  • Tedeschi led the Mustang offense in scoring with three goals, followed by Dohn and Mohammed who tallied two goals a piece.
  • Taylor and Stancarone each netted one goal as well.
  • Christopher Eddy (Auburn, N.Y.) led Morrisville on the defensive end with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Goalkeeper Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) recorded 20 saves in the loss for the Mustangs..
  • Oswego was led by Trey Jones who tallied four goals, while goalkeeper Seamus Hand held down the defense with 12 saves in 60 minutes of action.

  • The Mustangs continue their home stretch next Friday, April 3rd where they will host the Red Dragons of Oneonta at 7 PM.
