CLERMONT, FLA. – The SUNY Morrisville softball team closed out the spring break training trip with a 8-0 loss to Ripon College Friday afternoon in five innings on the final day of action in Clermont.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The SUNY Morrisville softball team closed out spring break action Friday late afternoon with a five inning loss to Ripon College on the final day of action in Clermont, Florida.
• Morrisville fell behind 2-0 after the first inning before Ripon tacked on two more in the second and another three in the third for a commanding 7-0 lead after three.
• Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) attempted to rally the Mustangs with a triple to left center in the third, but the Ripon defense closed the inning from the mound, throwing a strikeout to send the game into the fourth.
• Following a scoreless fourth frame, Morrisville had one final chance in the top of the fifth, but Ripon retired all three batters, and added a walk off run in the bottom of the inning to end the contest.
• Lafontaine recorded both Mustang hits, going 2-for-2 from the plate.
• Gracie Battles (Fulton, N.Y.) recorded the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched before Kendall Darling (Lacona, N.Y.) appeared for the final 1.2 innings, facing eight batters.
