Morrisville Shuts Out Old Westbury, Improves to 3-0

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs hosted the Panthers of Old Westbury Saturday afternoon, where they would shutout the Panthers 20-0 in a dominant offensive showing.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Morrisville opened the contest with a strong first quarter, getting goals from Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) and Mary Trowbridge (Brookhaven, N.Y.), including a man-down tally off an assist from Samantha Budney (Pine Bush, N.Y.), while the Mustang defense held Old Westbury scoreless, entering the second period up 2-0.
  • Trowbridge started the second quarter on fire, scoring four out of the first five goals for the Mustangs.
  • The Mustangs finished the period strong, scoring three straight in the final minute to take a 10-0 lead going into halftime.
  • Morrisville dominated the third offensively, scoring six goals, five coming from Ingersoll and another one from Trowbridge, extending their lead to 16-0 entering the final 15 minutes of action.
  • Morrisville added four goals in the final period as Budney scored on a man-up goal off an assist from Ingersoll, followed by tallies from Deli Vega-Haley (Worcester, N.Y.) and Trowbridge, sealing the 20-0 shutout over Old Westbury.
  • Ingersoll led the contest with nine goals, adding three assists while Trowbridge followed with seven goals.
  • Budney contributed two goals in the win while two other Mustangs each saw the back of the net once.
  • Goalie Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) anchored the Morrisville defense saving all shots from the Panthers, while Trowbridge recorded nine ground balls.
  • Westbury's Jara Gonzalez recorded 10 saves in 60 minutes of action.

  • The Mustangs return to action next Saturday, where they will travel to Utica University to take on the Pioneers in a 1 PM matchup.
