Mustangs Stay Undefeated, Win on the Road at Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Mustangs traveled to Keuka to take on the Wolves for their first road game of the season where they would ultimately win 15-5.
THE BASICS:
  • Team Scores: Morrisville 15, Keuka 5 (halftime: Morrisville 8-0)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Morrisville jumped out to an early lead, scoring three first period goals, including the opening tally from Samantha Budney (Pine Bush, N.Y.), followed by two free-position scores from Deli Vega-Haley (Worcester, N.Y.), to take a 3-0 advantage over Keuka.
  • The Mustangs continued their strong start in the second period as Budney capitalized on a man-down situation, extending Morrisville's lead.
  • Goals from Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.), Vega-Haley and Savanna Scheifla (Alden, N.Y.) later in the period pushed the Mustangs' run to eight unanswered goals, giving Morrisville an 8-0 lead heading into halftime.
  • Ingersoll opened the second half with a goal before Keuka responded shortly after on a man-up opportunity to get on the board.
  • Morrisville answered right back with three consecutive goals, continuing to control the momentum before the Wolves closed the quarter with a late free-position goal, cutting the score to 12-2.
  • Morrisville closed out the contest with three fourth-quarter goals, including scores from Trowbridge, Budney, and a man-up tally from Ingersoll, helping the mustangs secure a 15-5 victory over the Wolves, despite Keuka adding three goals in the final frame.
  • Ingersoll and Vega-Haley led the Mustangs' in scoring with four goals a piece while Ingersoll led the contests in assists with three.
  • Four others found the net for the Mustangs while the team combined for six assists on the night.
  • Grace Loadwick (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) led the defense with eight ground balls, followed by Ingersoll who recorded six, while goalie Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) saved eight shots and only allowed five goals.
  • Keuka's Jessica Miller and Lainie Forde led the Wolves in scoring with two goals a piece while goalie Lauren Vitello saved 18 shots.
