WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville field hockey concluded the season Saturday afternoon with a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss to visiting Oswego on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • The Mustangs battled back from an early 1-0 deficit to net the game tying tally at the 27:44 mark, a blast from the center of the circle off the stick of Lilly Bagg (Nineveh, N.Y.) who received the centering pass from Melissa Beaver (Granville, N.Y.) late in the second.
  • Both teams had opportunities in the second half to put the go ahead score on the board, but neither could sneak one in, forcing the extra period.
  • Oswego placed one on net midway through the overtime period, but the shot was turned away by Morrisville keeper Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.).
  • Within seconds, though, the long hit coming in found the stick of Sophia Prianti for the sudden victory score for the Lakers, ending the contest with a 2-1 Mustang defeat.
  • Noeller had five saves for the Mustangs in net in the loss.
