Morrisville women come up short in fourth quarter rally

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team put together a fourth quarter rally Tuesday afternoon on the road at host Buffalo State, but came up short as the Bengals posted the 68-59 win on their home court in SUNYAC action.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville put together a fourth quarter rally Tuesday afternoon, but came up short at the buzzer as Buffalo State posted the 68-59 win in Buffalo in SUNYAC action.
  • Morrisville trailed 39-22 at the break as the hosts outgained the Mustangs by 12 in the second quarter, before limiting Buffalo State to just 13 points in the third.
  • The Mustangs put together a 11-2 run over the opening four minutes of the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to seven, but the Bengals posted back-to-back layups to regain the double digit advantage with just over five minutes to go.
  • Morrisville again cut down the deficit, trailing by eight with 1:20 showing on the clock, but the Bengals were able to extend their lead to 13 over the next minute, sealing the win from the free throw line as they 5-of-6 down the stretch.
  • Junior guard Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) picked up a double-double effort, netting 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds, five off the offensive glass.
  • Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) finished with 13 points and six boards, while Celeste Baldwin (Bainbridge, N.Y.) added eight to go along with seven rebounds.
  • Sophia Babcock (Oswego, N.Y.) finished with seven points, collecting four steals along side teammate Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.).
