Morrisville women tripped up in second half in return to court

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team returned to action Saturday afternoon, hosting nearby SUNY Poly in Morrisville, dropping the 52-48 non-conference decision.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team returned to the court for the first time in the New Year Saturday afternoon, hosting nearby SUNY Poly, but got tripped up in the second half of play as the Wildcats posted the slim 52-48 win.
  • Morrisville, who led 32-22 at the break, struggled in the third quarter from the floor, allowing Poly to get back in the game and send the game into the final frame tied at 37.
  • In the fourth, Morrisville led by four until the 4:48 mark when Poly took a 46-43 lead with a three-point play, adding a three-pointer with under two to go to extend the advantage to six.
  • Morrisville, who attempted to get back in the game with shots from beyond the arc, cut the lead to four with 16 seconds showing on the clock, but the visitors were able to secure two from the free throw line to seal the win.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) led Morrisville with 19 points and six rebounds, with teammate Jessalyn Jones (Moravia, N.Y.) adding another 10 to go along with seven rebounds.
  • Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) posted seven points and collected a team high eight boards, while posting four steals in the Mustang efforts.
  • Three netted double figures for the Wildcats, including Alysa Jackson who had a team high 18.

  • Morrisville returns to SUNYAC play Tuesday, traveling to Buffalo State for a 4 p.m. league battle.
