MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's basketball led by five midway through the fourth quarter Friday night on the road at SUNY Cortland but were unable to stave off a late host rally as the Red Dragons notched the 54-49 win in Cortland.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's basketball posed a threat to host and SUNYAC undefeated SUNY Cortland Friday evening, but were unable to pull off the upset as the Red Dragons escaped with a 54-49 win with a late fourth quarter rally.
Cortland led 20-18 at the half before Morrisville put together a 22-point third quarter to jump out in front after three 40-36.
Morrisville led by five with 5:49 to go in the fourth after Celeste Baldwin (Bainbridge, N.Y.) completed the three-point play, but the but the hosts were able to sneak back into the game with back-to-back layups to tie the contest at 49 with 2:26 to go.
A three with just under two minutes showing on the clock put Cortland in front by three, and they followed with a fast break layup with 1:03 remaining to make it a two-possession lead.
Morrisville had two good looks at the basket in the closing minute but were unable to convert as they dropped the league decision.
Cortland went on a 10-0 run over the final three minutes to claim the win.
Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) led all scorers with 19 points on the night, adding four rebounds and six steals in the Mustang efforts.
Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) added nine points to go along with six rebounds and five assists, while Baldwin chipped in eight points, matching her total with eight boards.
Joleen Lush had 14 points and snagged 17 off the glass for Cortland to lead the hosts, with teammate Sophie Bissaillon adding 10 points to round out the scoring leaderboard.
