PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team fell short in SUNYAC action Friday night on the road at Plattsburgh State, forcing the Cardinals to earn the win from the free throw line in the 81-74 decision.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's basketball closed a 13 point halftime deficit and battled back and forth with the host Plattsburgh Cardinals Friday night on the road in Plattsburgh, falling short as the hosts picked up the 81=74 SUNYAC win.
• Morrisville used a 10-0 run early in the second to tie the contest at 47, trading scores until 4:13 remaining in the contes when the hosts took a four-point lead and were forced to earn the win from the free throw line down the stretch.
• Plattsburgh increased their lead to eight with 1:54 showing on the clock, but a three from Avion Grainger (Syracuse, N.Y.) cut the deficit to five.
• A layup from Bruce Wingate (Liverpool, N.Y.) made it a four-point ball game with just over one minute to go,
• Plattsburgh converted 3-of-4 from the free throw line to regain a seven point lead before Wingate drained a three, again bringing the Mustang within four with 23 seconds remaining.
• Plattsburgh, though, would seal the win hitting a layup with 13 ticks to go and sealing with a free throw with six seconds left.
• Grainger led the Mustangs with 21 points and nine rebounds, with another 17 coming from Wingate off the bench.
• Wingate also snagged nine rebounds in the Mustang efforts.
• Robert Wiggins (White Plains, Md.) collected 11 points and had five steals in the defensive efforts.
• Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, N.Y.) contributed 10 points, also collecting two steals.
• Reem Welch led all scorers for Plattsburgh with 31 points and 15 rebounds, gathering six off the offensive glass to lead the Cardinal second chance efforts.

• Morrisville will face Potsdam in an 4 p.m. league battle tomorrow afternoon in Potsdam to wrap up weekend action.
