Morrisville tops Cobleskill soccer

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's soccer team dominated visiting SUNY Cobleskill Friday night in non-conference action, claiming the 5-2 victory on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's soccer picked up their first win of the 2025 season Friday night, toppling visiting SUNY Cobleskill 5-2 in non-conference action on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville wasted no time posting their first score of the night, with senior Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) burying the one-timer off the cross to the left from fellow striker Haylie Buysse (Keene Valley, N.Y.) six minutes in.
  • Cobleskill evened the contest at 11:37 with a header placed on the left post off a free kick, before claiming a one goal lead in the 22nd minute on a clean up of the loose ball.
  • Morrisville evened the contest at two with an unassisted score from Sarah Davis (Norwich, N.Y.) at the top of the box, before closing out the half a minute later as Buysse buried the one-touch off the diagonal dish to the top right of the box to send the Mustangs into the locker room leading 3-2.
  • Elliott Patenaude (Mechanicville, N.Y.) extended the Morrisville lead to two scores with her first collegiate goal in the 61st minute and the Mustangs maintained the lead, extending it to three goals at 76:14 as Buysse buried the one-touch cross from Jaidon Brodie (Mt. Vision, N.Y.) for the win.
  • Cheyenne Thomas (Beltsville, Md.) picked up one save in the win in net for the Mustangs.
