Bagg collects hat trick in overtime win for Morrisville

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville freshman Lilly Bagg (Nineveh, N.Y.) collected her first collegiate hat trick Friday afternoon, including the game winner in the overtime period, to lead the Mustangs to a 5-4 thrilling victory over Keuka College on Drake Field in Morrisville..

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville field hockey posting a thrilling 5-4 overtime win Friday afternoon over visiting Keuka College, as freshman Lilly Bagg (Nineveh, N.Y.) recorded her first collegiate hat trick in the win for the Mustangs on Drake Field.
  • Morrisville's Mikaela Iza (West Babylon, N.Y.) put the hosts on the board midway through the opening quarter, sweeping in the cross from McKenzie Williams (Barton, N.Y.) on the right wing for the score.
  • Within minutes, Keuka would answer the Mustangs tally, before taking a 2-1 lead at the half with a second goal collected late in the second quarter.
  • Chloe Curtis (Canastota, N.Y.) evened the game at two for the Mustangs with just under four minutes to go in the third quarter with the sweep on the left post off the chip from Melissa Beaver (Granville, N.Y.).
  • Just over two minutes later, Bagg gave Morrisville the one goal edge sending the penalty stroke past the Keuka goalkeeper's stick for the score.
  • Keuka regained the lead in the early minutes of the fourth with back-to-back goals, but Bagg evened it at four with 1:05 remaining in regulation to send the contest into the extra frame.
  • Kylee Noyes (Castle Creek, N.Y.) stopped the corner insert at the top of the circle and chipped the ball to the left to a waiting Bagg who sniped the tying score inside the left post.
  • In extra time, Bagg stopped a Keuka player from advancing the ball up field, dribbled down the center of the circle and tapped the reverse stick shot into the back of the cage for the win.
  • Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.) collected the victory in net, registering seven saves in 64 minutes of action.

  • Morrisville will return to the field Tuesday, hosting Utica University at 4 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
