MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville scored twice in the second half to collect a 3-1 season opening victory over host Elmira field hockey Friday evening in Elmira.
Morrisville was able to put the first strike on the board six minutes into the contest, as
Skylar Henebery (Accord, N.Y.) slammed in the goal off the drive from
Melissa Beaver (Granville, N.Y.).
Elmira was able to tie the contest up at one in the 21
st minute to send the game into the halftime period tied at one.
Beaver broke the tie at 35:07 mark with an unassisted tally to give Morrisville the one goal edge, before collecting a second 15 minutes later off the assist from
Lilly Bagg (Nineveh, N.Y.) for the 3-1 lead.
Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.) collected three saves in the win for Morrisville, appearing in the first half before
Jillian Buczkowski (Rome, N.Y.) secured the win with a second half appearance in net.
Morrisville returns to the field Sunday, hosting Marywood University at noon on Drake Field in Morrisville.
