Morrisville men close out season against Plattsburgh

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team closed out the 2025 season Saturday afternoon on their home field, falling to visiting Plattsburgh State in SUNYAC play by a 13-7 final score in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team closed out the 2025 season campaign Saturday afternoon, dropping a 13-7 decision to visiting Plattsburgh State in SUNYAC action on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • The Mustangs opened with a 3-1 lead after the opening quarter, before Plattsburgh battled back in the second to claim the 5-4 advantage at the break.
  • The Cardinals outgained Morrisville 6-2 in the third to open their lead to five after three, before sealing the win in the fourth.
  • Plattsburgh posted the first tally of the afternoon midway through the opening quarter, before Jason Tedeschi (Manlius, N.Y.) evened the contest at one for Morrisville with his unassisted tally 33 seconds later.
  • Within seconds, Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) found Daniel Squires (Aquebogue, N.Y.) for a second Mustang tally, before netting one of his own off the dish from Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) to close out the quarter with just under two to go.
  • Plattsburgh posted a tally early on in the second, but senior Curtis Robitaille (Endwell, N.Y.) responded with an unassisted goal to regain the two score lead for the Mustangs.
  • Plattsburgh, though, rattled off three straight to claim the 5-4 advantage at the break, and continued their scoring run into the third, opening the gap to five scores before the Mustangs were able to halt the run with a goal off the stick of Dohn.
  • Both teams traded scores throughout the remainder of the quarter, with Plattsburgh holding the 11-6 lead after three.
  • Tedeschi brought the Mustangs within four at the 12:09 mark of the fourth, but Plattsburgh scored twice more to secure the league win.
  • Peter Urso led the Cardinals with six points, netting three goals and three assists, while Donald Woods also collected three scores.
  • Dohn and Tedeschi each collected three points behind two goals and an assist for Morrisville, while Robitaille and Mohammed each posted one goal and assisted another, apiece.
  • Andrew Idzik (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) led the efforts in the ground ball game, collecting seven, while causing four turnovers in the defensive efforts.
  • Kari Thomas (Rochester, N.Y.) added three caused turnovers to the Mustang defensive game, while goalkeeper Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) turned aside a career high 24 saves in net, despite the loss.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville concludes the season with a 2-10 overall record going 1-6 in their first season in the SUNYAC.
  • Morrisville men's lacrosse joined efforts with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation to Lacrosse Out Cancer – presenting the organization with more than $1600 prior to the opening faceoff in their 47 reps effort to raise awareness for the fight against cancer.
  • The Mustangs also honored their graduates post-game.
