Utica nets two late in fourth to get past Mustangs 10-8

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team fell 10-8 to non-conference Utica University Wednesday afternoon as the Pioneers posted two late tallies to secure the win on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Utica University men's lacrosse scored twice late in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's non-conference action at SUNY Morrisville, recording the 10-8 victory on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Utica took a 5-3 lead at the break over the Mustangs, before extending the advantage to 8-4 midway through the third.
  • Morrisville scored four straight goals to even the contest at eight tallies apiece early in the final frame, and didn't allow a Utica score until under three minutes to go in the contest, when the Pioneers posted the go-ahead score, before sealing the win with another strike seconds later for the two-goal advantage.
  • Daniel Squires (Aquebogue, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with three goals, with teammate Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) chipping in another two.
  • Curtis Robitaille (Endwell, N.Y.) notched one goal and assisted two others while teammates Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Jason Tedeschi (Manlius, N.Y.) added one goal and one assist apiece.
  • Nicholas DeNicola (Southold, N.Y.) picked up a team high four ground balls in the Mustang efforts, also contributing two assists, with another three ground ball pickups coming from long stick defenseman Griffin English (Big Flats, N.Y.) who also caused two turnovers.
  • Nathan Weise (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, recording five saves in the first half of action before Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) finished out the final 30 minutes with six stops.
