Christmas rattles off 26 against Canton

CANTON, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville freshman Kieonna Christmas (Fultonville, N.Y.) posted a team high 26 points Friday evening on the road at SUNY Canton, leading the Morrisville Mustang efforts in the 78-63 SUNYAC loss in Canton.

  • SUNY Morrisville women's basketball outgained host SUNY Canton in the first and fourth quarters of SUNYAC action on the road in Canton Friday evening, as freshman Kieonna Christmas (Fultonville, N.Y.) put together a double-double effort to lead the visitors.
  • Christmas paced Morrisville with 26 points, adding 11 rebounds for the double-double, while collecting four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) added 14 points to go along with nine from Jakeira Stackhouse (Liverpool, N.Y.) off the bench.
  • Celeste Baldwin (Bainbridge, N.Y.) registered seven points and nine boards to wrap up the leader board for the visitors.
  • Natalie Bartle matched Christmas with a 26 point outing to lead SUNY Canton, while teammates Kat McRobbie-Taru and Hope Aniceto added 14 and 11 points, respectively, to the win.
  • Morrisville led 18-15 after the opening quarter before hitting a scoring drought in the second that saw the hosts double-up the Mustangs to claim the 39-30 lead at the break.
  • Canton continued their offensive blitz in the third to open a 20-point lead after three, but Morrisville chipped away in the fourth, closing the deficit to 15, running out of time down the stretch.

  • Morrisville will return to the court Saturday, traveling to Oswego for the final contest of the season.
