Mustang women fall behind early in loss to Oswego

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team kept pace with the visiting SUNY Oswego Lakers, but were unable to overcome an early first quarter deficit as they dropped the SUNYAC outing 75-63 on their home court in Morrisville Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball dropped a conference battle with Oswego State Saturday afternoon, falling 75-63 come final whistle in league play.
  • The Mustangs, who trailed by eight after the opening quarter, were able to keep pace with the Lakers throughout the remainder of the contest, outscoring the visitors 14-12 in the second quarter, but couldn't overcome the gap come final whistle.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 23 points, adding four rebounds, while assisting another four and picking up four steals.
  • Freshman Jessalyn Jones (Moravia, N.Y.) added 14 off the bench for the Mustangs, proving to be the spark that ignited the offensive unit across the second and third quarters.
  • Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) wrapped up the Mustang leaderboard with 10 points, collecting the double-double as she recorded 10 rebounds to go along with six assists.
  • Giavanna White-Principio led all scorers with 27 points and 22 rebounds, collecting three blocks, three steals and three assists for Oswego.
  • Oswego dominated the boards 64-33 over the Mustangs, but Morrisville was able to net 20 points off 15 total Laker turnovers in their efforts.

  • Morrisville will have their final bout of 2025 on Saturday, December 13, before heading into the winter break on the road at Keuka College.
