Plattsburgh rallies to post 3-1 win over Mustang volleyball

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville volleyball team took a 1-0 lead in the match against Plattsburgh State after the opening set, but the visitors rallied to post wins in the next three, claiming the 3-1 match win over the Mustangs in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball battled visiting Plattsburgh State Friday night, falling in match action 3-1 to the Cardinals on Senior Night in Morrisville.
  • The Mustangs claimed an opening 25-18 set win over the visitors but were unable to hold off a Plattsburgh rally as they found themselves tied 1-1 in match play after a 27-25 set two win by the Cardinals.
  • Plattsburgh went ahead 2-1 in the match, again topping the Mustangs by two set points in the third, 25-23, before putting the game away in the fourth set with a 25-22 win for the victory.
  • Isabella Eskierka (Amery, Wisc.) led all Mustang attackers with 15 kills across the match, adding 12 digs to her total, while teammate Samantha Siedlecki (Thorton, Colo.) added 11 kills to go along with two blocks.
  • Autumn Dailey (Smyrna, N.Y.) had seven kills and three blocks at the net, with a 19 assists coming off the setting of freshman Keely Shearer (Haslet, Texas).
  • Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) added 14 assists while posting 10 digs.
  • Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) led the Mustang defensive efforts with 15 total digs.
  • Morrisville outhit Plattsburgh .128% to .062, but the Cardinals served up seven aces to post the edge, 7-3.

  • Morrisville will host Potsdam for its home finale on Saturday with an opening serve scheduled for 1 p.m. in Morrisville.
