Second half gets away from Morrisville in loss to Oneonta

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visting SUNY Oneonta women's soccer scored five times in the second half of Saturday evening's SUNYAC match at SUNY Morrisville, netting the 7-1 league win on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's soccer trailed by two at the break before cutting the deficit to one early in the second, but the visiting SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons netted five unanswered tallies to pull away with the 7-1 SUNYAC win on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Oneonta posted their first of the night midway through the second half off the header from a corner kick, adding a second goal with the one-touch off the thru ball into the top of the box 11 minutes later.
  • The visitors maintained the 2-0 lead through the 60th minute of play, before Morrisville cut the deficit to one.
  • Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) sent the free kick into the center of the box, where Jaidon Brodie (Mt. Vision, N.Y.) touched the ball to the left and Klaire Keppel (Constantia, N.Y.) put the ball into the back of the net at 60:38.
  • Less than a minute later, though, a cross from the right wing into the far side of the box saw Oneonta regain the two-goal advantage and kick off a five-goal spurt that saw four more scores within a 12-minute period.
  • Alyssa Denton (Castle Creek, N.Y.) recorded 10 saves in the loss in net for Morrisville, a five save effort in each half of action.
