Morrisville hockey drops match with #15 Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey dropped a 6-2 decision to host no. 15 ranked SUNY Cortland Friday night on the road in Cortland, scoring one in the first and second period.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey dropped a 6-2 SUNYAC decision to host no. 15 ranked SUNY Cortland Friday night, falling to 0-7-0 in league play as the Red Dragons improved to 5-1-0.
  • Morrisville held the hosts scoreless for nearly 14 minutes of the first period, before Cortland struck with their first of the night at the 13:52 mark, adding another a minute later for the 2-0 advantage.
  • Morrisville's Will Jones (Corbeil, Ont.) collected his fourth goal of the season at 18:19, bringing the Mustangs within one at the close of the opening period.
  • Andrew Manley (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Ryan Glazer (Montreal, Que.) were credited with the assists.
  • Cortland regained the two goal advantage 4:41 into the second period, and maintained that distance until 13:28 when Connor Carlile (Southlake, Texas) netted his first of the season, a blast that came from Max Maziarchuk (Staten Island, N.Y.) to once again make it a one goal game.
  • The hosts, though, added one more before period end to regain the two-goal lead after two.
  • Cortland posted back-to-back tallies in third to extend their lead to four goals, netting both within 40 seconds of one another to collect the win.
  • Grant Linville (Edmond, Okla.) registered 41 stops in net for the Mustangs despite the loss, recording a high 18 in the third period of play.

  • Morrisville will head to Buffalo next weekend, facing off against Fredonia on Friday before taking on Buffalo State on Saturday.
