Cortland gets past Morrisville men in Friday night SUNYAC action

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville men's basketball fell in SUNYAC play to visiting SUNY Cortland Friday evening in Morrisville, dropping the 65-55 decision to the Red Dragons on the Mustangs home court.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's basketball fell in league action Friday evening in Morrisville to visiting SUNY Cortland, dropping the 65-55 decision to the SUNYAC leading Red Dragons.
  • Morrisville, who trailed 32-26 at the break, erased a nine-point deficit midway through the second half to make it a two-possession game with just over six minutes to play, but the visitors attacked the paint and were able to pull away from the Mustangs to secure the win down the stretch.
  • Kareem Sanders (Schenectady, N.Y.) led all scorers with 23 points, adding eight rebounds and three assists to go along with three steals on the night.
  • Five of Sanders rebounds came on the offensive glass for the Mustangs.
  • Jacob Works (Liverpool, N.Y.) added 11 and dished out three assists, while teammate Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, N.Y.) came off the bench to contribute eight points.
  • CJ McCullum (Bronx, N.Y.) had five, assisting four in the loss.
  • Cortland had three net double figures, including Kendall Arcuri who posted a team high 14 alongside Aaron Coston.
  • Gaige Armbrewster added 11 points, while Joel Davis led the visitors on the glass with a team best 14 boards, also blocking five shots.
