POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville volleyball team led 2-1 in Friday night's match action, but opponent SUNY Geneseo battled back to force the final decisive set, where they outlasted the Mustangs for the 3-2 match win in tournament action at Vassar.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• SUNY Morrisville volleyball held a 2-1 match lead over SUNY Geneseo in Friday night's action at Vassar, but the Knights battled back to outlast the Mustangs in the five set thriller to claim the 3-2 match win.
• Morrisville suffered a 19-25 setback in the opening set of the match, before battling back in the second behind their .300 hitting effort from the floor to take the second 25-19.
• The Mustangs capitalized off Knight hitting errors in the third set to take the 2-1 match lead with a 25-12 set win, but Geneseo reversed the momentum in the fourth to force the fifth and decisive set.
• Morrisville jumped out to a 7-4 advantage but three straight hitting errors and two service aces found Geneseo out in front with the 11-7 lead.
• Morrisville was able to bring the set within one twice, the first off a block by Autumn Dailey (Hamilton, N.Y.) and Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.), and a second time on a service error by the Knights.
• Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) made it a 14-12 set score with the momentum with the Mustangs, but Geneseo found a scoring hit at the net to capture the match win with a 15-12 set score.
• Huppee finished the match with 26 kills, hitting .352 from the floor, serving up three aces and adding eight digs to the Mustang efforts on the night.
• Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added eight to go along with 23 assists from Bellmore and another 10 from Samantha Mehler (Cummings, Ga.).
• Bellmore and Mehler contributed seven digs a piece, with Bellmore and Daily tallying four assisted blocks each.
• Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) had 25 digs in the defensive efforts on the court, also contributing five assists and two aces to the offensive game.

• Morrisville returns to the court at Vassar for the second day of tournament action Saturday, meeting Wheaton College at 1, before facing host Vassar at 3 p.m.
