MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville field hockey team won a thrilling non-league battle on Drake Field Saturday, topping visiting Manhattanville University by a 5-4 final in overtime in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Host SUNY Morrisville field hockey picked up a second straight win Saturday afternoon as they defeated visiting Manhattanville University by a 5-4 final tally in overtime on their home turf in Morrisville.
• Knotted at four at the end of regulation, both teams battled back and forth until the final two minutes of the contest, when the hosts-controlled possession in the offensive end of the field.
• Morrisville was awarded a penalty corner with 14 seconds remaining in the extra frame and after the block of the initial shot attempt from the top of the circle, Kate Walters (Manlius, N.Y.) sent the ball back into the circle with seconds remaining.
• After hitting the pads of the goalkeeper the ball was loose ball in front of cage, before finding the stick of Iyla Lilleby (Medina, N.Y.) who knocked in the game winning score on the left post with one second remaining on the clock.
• Lilleby finished with two goals and an assist in the win, while fellow teammate Kylee Noyes (Castle Creek, N.Y.) added two as well.
• Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) added one to her totals, along with an assist from teammate Macie May (Barker, N.Y.).
• Manhattanville posted the first score of the day 6:52 into the first quarter, crossing the ball from the left to the center for a scoring tip.
• Morrisville was quickly to respond, netting their first of the match with a drive from Noyes on the left wing off the penalty corner insert by Melissa Beaver (Granville, N.Y.).
• The Valiants regain the lead in the second, lifting the penalty stroke into the upper left corner of the net, before taking the 3-1 lead into the halftime period with a sweep of the loose ball on the penalty corner play at the 27:52 mark.
• Leet cut the lead to one in the third quarter, picking up the chip from Lilleby before driving the scoring shot inside the left post from the right wing.
• Noyes was able to tie the contest at three with her second of the match minutes later, sending the drive over the pad of the Manhattanville goalie for the tying score.
• Beaver, once again, was credited with the assist on the penalty corner insert.
• Morrisville took their first lead of the contest at the 52:25 mark of the fourth quarter with a reverse stick sweep from Lilleby that was sent into the circle by May.
• Within minutes, though, Manhattanville evened the contest once again between the two teams, with their own tip inside the circle at the 54:42 mark, forcing the overtime period.
• Morrisville had three penalty corner opportunities early on, but Manhattanville's Hannah Doherty turned the shot on goal away.
• Late into the period, Morrisville was once again awarded three straight penalty corner opportunities, where they capitalized on the third with Lilleby tipping in game winner with one second remaining in the sudden victory
• Doherty finished with seven saves in the loss.
• Morrisville's Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.) picked up the win with six stops in net.
