Baum, McDonald double-digit effort leads women to big win on Senior Day

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse seniors Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) and Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) each collected double-digits in points Sunday afternoon to lead the host Mustangs to a dominating 23-5 win over Thomas College on Senior Day on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Seniors Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) each recorded 10+ points Sunday afternoon to lead host SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse to a dominating 23-5 win over Thomas College on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • McDonald led all scorers with eight tallies, adding three assists for 11 points, a collegiate high, adding eight draw control wins to her totals.
  • Baum posted five scores and assisted another five for 10 points, while snagging seven ground balls and causing three turnovers.
  • Morrisville also had a big game from freshman Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) who collected four goals and assisted three others for seven points, adding three ground balls and six draws to her totals.
  • Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) added the hat trick with her three tallies, recording seven ground balls, while senior Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) posted five points with her three-goal hat trick and two assists.
  • Jaele Naab (Clarence, N.Y.) picked up five grounders for Morrisville to assist in the defensive stance for the hosts.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) recorded the win with her three stops across three quarters of play, before Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) replaced Thomas in the final quarter of action.
  • Morrisville outshot Thomas 45-8 in shots on goal across the day, causing 35 Terrier turnovers.
  • Baum opened all scoring for the day with her tally off the dish from McDonald just over three minutes in, before Thomas posted one to tie it 40 seconds later to even it up at one.
  • An unassisted tally from Ingersoll 11 seconds later kicked off a four goal spurt for the hosts that included another from Baum followed by one from McDonald and Ringgold to extended the lead to 5-1.
  • Thomas added a second score at the 6:24 mark, but Morrisville ended the first with a 5-0 run, three from McDonald and a third from Baum, with Leet throwing one in to get in on the scoring.
  • Morrisville carried momentum into the second where McDonald and Baum continued to build the Mustangs lead to 13-3 at the break.
  • Ingersoll posted the first of the second half, before Thomas was able to collect one, but Morrisville went on a 9-0 run to open the gap to 19 en route to the win.
  • Prior to the contest, Morrisville acknowledged its senior class.
 
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will host Keuka College in a non-conference match Wednesday before heading to SUNY Poly on Saturday to resume NAC play.
