Morrisville women net third straight win, edge Keuka 13-11

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team outgained the visiting Keuka College Wolves in the third quarter of Wednesday night's non-conference action on Drake Field in Morrisville, posting their third straight victory as they collected the 13-11 win.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Senior Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) scored six goals and assisted two others, including two tallies in the third quarter, as she led the host SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team to their third straight win, a 13-11 defeat of Keuka College in non-conference action on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • McDonald also added three ground balls and six draw controls to her tallies on the night, with two of her scores coming on free position opportunities.
  • Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) added to the Mustang scoring with a three-goal hat trick, collecting five ground balls and causing two turnovers while four additional teammates each posted one goal in the win.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) collected a team high seven ground balls, causing four turnovers and gaining six draws for the hosts, also adding a score, while Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) had a two-point outing with her one goal and assist, adding two caused turnovers in the midfield.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) recorded the win with her six save effort across 60 minutes.
  • Morrisville held a 2-1 lead after the opening quarter of play as McDonald registered both scores, before playing back-and-forth with the Wolves to head into the halftime break tied at six.
  • Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) put the Mustangs ahead early in the third with her unassisted score, before McDonald posted the extra woman tally for the two goal advantage.
  • Baum and McDonald each added another score midway through the quarter, giving the hosts the two-goal cushion with a 10-8 advantage heading into the final frame.
  • An unassisted Keuka tally brought the visitors within one, but Baum posted back-to-back scores to compete her hat trick and regain a three-goal lead for the hosts.
  • Keuka cut it to two at the 10:54 mark, but Morrisville quickly responded as McDonald hit Ringgold on the backdoor for the score.
  • Keuka would add another, but it wasn't enough as Morrisville held on for the win.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville returns to the field Saturday for a crosstown rival North Atlantic Conference battle with SUNY Poly. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Utica.
