Morrisville women falter on the road at Alfred University

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-10 decision to host Alfred University Tuesday afternoon, falling to 1-6 overall to date on the season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse made a fourth quarter push Tuesday afternoon but fell short as Alfred University collected the 20-10 non-conference win in Alfred.
  • Alfred boasted a 14-4 lead at the break before the Mustangs found a bit of offensive rhythm, out gaining the Saxons 5-4 in the final frame.
  • Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) each posted four points in the loss, McDonald leading the squad with three goals and an assist, while Ingersoll tallied two scores, assisting another two.
  • Ingersoll also posted a team high five draws and caused four turnovers, while picking up five ground balls.
  • Five additional Mustangs contributed to the offensive efforts, including Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.) who posted one and assisted another.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) recorded the loss, saving six in the first half of action before being replaced by Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) for the second half.
  • Smith recorded five saves.
WHAT'S NEXT:
  • Morrisville returns to the field Saturday, hosting the University of Maine-Farmington on Drake Field for the North Atlantic Conference opener. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Morrisville.
