Morrisville men extend win streak to three, hand Canton first league loss

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team posted their third straight victory Wednesday evening as they toppled visiting SUNY Canton 15-12 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action to move to 4-1 overall in league play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville used a strong first half to collect their third straight win Wednesday evening, handing visiting SUNY Canton their first loss in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with a 15-12 defeat on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville, who limited the Roos to eight shots on goal in the first half, scored 10 to claim the 10-4 lead at the break.
  • The Mustangs edged Canton 3-2 in the third quarter, before withstanding a Roo rally in the fourth for the league win.
  • Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with two goals and six assists for eight points, burying a behind the back stunner in the third.
  • Two of his assists found their way to the stick of Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) who collected four goals for the Mustangs in the win, while Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) added three more tallies to go along with an assist.
  • Chris Stancarone (Levittown, N.Y.) posted the hat trick with his three scores, including the first of the contest, while James Graizzaro (Hillside, N.J.) rattled off one, assisting one as well.
  • Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) collected a goal and Chris Vecchiarelli (Cazenovia, N.Y.) his first collegiate score to round out the Mustang scoring.
  • Michael Avgenikos (Cazenovia, N.Y.) collected 13 wins at the center X, snagging six ground balls alongside Justin Smith (East Syracuse, N.Y.) who picked up six as well to go along with two caused turnovers.
  • Nathan Weise (Rochester, N.Y.) registered eight saves in the win for Morrisville, boosting the Mustangs to 4-1 to date on the season in league play and a top two position in NAC standings to date.

  • Morrisville returns to the field Saturday, hosting MCLA in a 1 p.m. league outing.
