Strong first half leads Morrisville women to 13-9 win over Poly

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team picked up their fourth straight win Saturday afternoon, including their third in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play, as they handed host SUNY Poly a 13-9 defeat on the Wildcats home field in Marcy.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse doubled up the host SUNY Poly Wildcats in the first half, collecting a 13-9 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win Saturday afternoon as they posted their third straight in league action in Marcy.
  • Morrisville held the 2-0 lead before the hosts responded with two tallies of their own to tie the contest with 5:10 to go, but the Mustangs added two more to claim the 4-2 advantage after the opening quarter.
  • They added to their lead in the second with four additional goals, including one with under a minute remaining to take an 8-4 edge into the halftime break.
  • Morrisville outgained the hosts 3-1 in the third to lead 11-5 and withstood a four-goal rally by the hosts over the final 10 minutes of play to post the win.
  • Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) led all scorers with five goals, adding two ground balls and three draws to her totals, while the Mustangs got four more from midfielder Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.).
  • Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) contributed to the scoring with her two goals and two assists, with Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) adding one to go along with her team high six ground balls and four draws.
  • Jaele Naab (Buffalo, N.Y.) posted one for the Mustangs, adding four caused turnovers.
  • Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) assisted one, also collecting three ground balls, four caused turnovers and five draw controls.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) turned aside three in the win for the Mustangs in 33 minutes of action, before Maggie Jones (Marystown, N.L.) finished out the final 27 with 10 stops to secure the win.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville returns to the field next Saturday, traveling to Husson University, before facing Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday.
