Morrisville women drop opener on the road at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team opened the 2024 season Friday afternoon on the road at Oswego State, falling by a 21-5 final score in Oswego.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse fell behind after the first quarter and struggled to put together a comeback attempt as they fell 21-5 to host Oswego State Friday afternoon in Oswego.
  • Morrisville trailed 5-0 before putting one on the board, the first collegiate score for Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) midway through the quarter.
  • Minutes later Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) collected her first of the season off the feed from Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) before Baum collected the unassisted extra woman score with 2:16 to go in the opening quarter to cut the Oswego lead to 6-3.
  • After an Oswego score increased the lead to four, Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) collected her first of her collegiate career, putting away the dish from Ringgold.
  • Oswego would go on to add another before the close of the quarter to hold an 8-4 lead after the first.
  • In the second, the hosts broadened their lead with seven additional tallies, claiming the 15-4 advantage at the break.
  • Morrisville's final score of the contest came at the 9:09 mark of the third with a second off the stick of Ringgold, but Oswego went on to post six more tallies to collect the win.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net for the Mustangs, posting 10 stops.

  • Morrisville returns to the field Wednesday, March 6 as they host Hartwick College in the home opener on Drake Field.
