Morrisville women drop non-conference bout with Hartwick

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team fell in their 2024 home debut Wednesday evening, as visiting Hartwick put together an eight goal opening quarter en route to the 18-9 win on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Hartwick College women's lacrosse limited host SUNY Morrisville to a three-goal first half as the Mustangs dropped the 2024 home debut by a 18-9 final score Wednesday evening in Morrisville.
  • Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) and Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) each collected the hat trick with three goals apiece to lead the Mustangs, with Ingersoll adding an assist to her totals.
  • Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.), Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.) and Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) each added one in the Mustang efforts.
  • Ingersoll also collected 10 draws for Morrisville while snagging five ground ball pickups.
  • Ringgold added three caused turnovers.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) recorded three stops in the loss for the Mustangs, appearing between the pipes in the first half of play.
  • Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) added three more in the second half of action for the hosts.
  • Hartwick notched the first tally of the day at the 10:37 mark of the first, before Baum responded with one for the hosts to even the contest at one 40 seconds later.
  • The Hawks then put together a nine-goal run to open the lead to 10-1 minutes into the second quarter, before Baum collected her second of the day off the feed from behind the cage from Ingersoll.
  • Ingersoll added her first at the 6:05 mark of the second, but Hartwick added two more to expand their advantage to 10 at the break.
  • An unassisted score by Ringgold early in the third cut into the Hartwick lead, but the visitors rallied for four straight to carry the 17-4 gap into the fourth.
  • Morrisville found their rhythm late in the contest, netting the final 5-of-6 goals, kicked off by a score from Leet at the 6:06 mark.
  • Dodge added one of her own off the scrum in front of net, before Ingersoll added her second of the night less than a minute later.
  • Baum collected her third at the 1:07 mark off the dish from Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) before Ingersoll capped off all scoring with her third of the day as time wound down.
