MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team closed out the 2023-24 season Saturday with a 6-3 loss to visiting Brockport in SUNYAC play in Morrisville to finish 5-19-1 overall on the year.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team closed out the 2023-24 season Saturday evening, falling in the finale by a 6-3 score to visiting SUNY Brockport in SUNYAC action.
• After a scoreless first period, Morrisville was first to break through at the 13:16 mark of the second with a power play score off the chip from Curtis Abbott (Belmont, Ont.).
• Andrew Manley (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Stevie Gerbis (Bradenton, Fla.) were credited with the assists.
• Within minutes, the hosts took a 2-0 lead with a short handed tally from a wide open Jacob Black (Fergus, Ont.) who snuck behind the defense for the wrister at the 17:03 mark.
• Noah Patrick (Barrie, Ont.) and Abbott initiated the play to pick up the assists.
• Brockport responded at 18:47 with their first of the night, a power play score, to send the contest into the final frame with a 2-1 Mustang lead.
• Just over two minutes into the third, the visitors evented the score at two, before Abbott picked up his second of the night a minute later to regain the 3-2 lead for the hosts.
• That was short-lived, however, as Brockport collected their second power play score 6:25 in and quickly added another for their first lead of the night at the 7:58 mark.
• The visitors would increase their lead to two with another tally at 12:49 before wrapping up all scoring at the 14:52 mark to widen the gap to three and secure the win.
• Garrett Boyonoski (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) collected 32 stops in the loss in net for Morrisville.
