Plattsburgh pulls away in second half to down Mustangs in league opener

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team dropped their league opener against visiting Plattsburgh State Friday night, falling 72-48 in SUNYAC play as the Cardinals used a strong second half to record the win in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Plattsburgh State used a strong second half to hand host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball a SUNYAC opening loss Friday night, as the Cardinals captured the 72-48 win in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville trailed 22-18 after the opening quarter, before Plattsburgh opened the gap to an 11-point lead at the break, putting the game out of reach in the second half as they limited the Mustangs to seven buckets from the floor across the remainder of the contest.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 12 points, adding six boards and an assist, while teammate Hannah Bonczkowski (Otego, N.Y.) contributed 8 off the bench.
  • Kieonna Christmas (Fultonville, N.Y.) and Jakeira Stackhouse (Liverpool, N.Y.) netted six points apiece, combining for 13 rebounds and five assists in the Mustang efforts.
  • Five posted double figures for Plattsburgh, including Jaden Wilson who led the way with 13 points.
  • Payton Couture added 12 to go along with 15 rebounds and seven assists, while teammates Selma Deisz and Imani Walcott each added 11 points and combined for nine rebounds.
  • Julia Greek wrapped up the leaderboard with 10 points and four assists.
