DeSales outlasts Morrisville Volleyball in fifth for match win

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) threw down a match total 29 kills to lead the SUNY Morrisville efforts Saturday afternoon, but home team DeSales University outlasted the Mustangs as they recorded the 3-2 match win in tri-match action in Rochester.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville volleyball battled through a five-set match Saturday afternoon with DeSales University on the campus of the University of Rochester in tri-match action, falling 3-2 in the non-league action.
  • Senior Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) led Morrisville with 29 total kills across the match, adding six service aces to go along with six blocks and 10 digs defensively.
  • Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added nine kills to the Mustan efforts, while Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) and Samantha Siedlecki (Thorton, Colo.) added another 11 combined.
  • Bellmore, who had six kills, also registered 11 digs, while assisting 37.
  • Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) collected 25 digs, alongside 14 from Kyle Hutchinson (Liberty Hill, Tex.) to lead the defensive efforts.
  • Morrisville suffered a 1-0 setback after falling 25-19 in the opening set but evened the match and one all with a 25-22 victory in the second.
  • The Mustangs took a 2-1 match lead after the third, overcoming a five-point deficit with six straight kills from their front line, three from Huppee, before going point-for-point down the stretch and capturing the 30-28 set win with back-to-back aces from Huppee.
  • DeSales evened the match at two in the fourth with their 25-19 set win, forcing the fifth, jumping out to an early 4-0 advantage.
  • Morrisville battled back and made it a two-point set midway through, but DeSales closed out the match with four straight points to earn the 3-2 victory.
